Southeast Valley Rolls Past Madrid, 53–26

The Southeast Valley 7th grade boys basketball team continued its strong start to the season with a convincing 53–26 victory over Madrid on Tuesday night. The Jaguars combined balanced scoring with aggressive defense to secure the win and build momentum heading into the holiday break.

Southeast Valley’s offensive attack was well-balanced, with multiple players contributing to the scoring column. Nicco Jondle led the way with 16 points, while Dawson Greene added 11 and Rocco Jondle chipped in 10. Cam Johnson provided 8 points, Tripp Roper scored 6, and Cooper Lane rounded out the effort with 2 points.

Also contributing to the contest were Jaxson Halsrud, Nikota Lyons, Cam Nelson, VinJuan Atcitty, Gabe Steck, Jaxyn Milham, Trayson Gutshall, Braxton Pierce, Eli Bird, and Roman Pace, whose hustle and teamwork helped fuel the Jaguars’ success on both ends of the floor.

Southeast Valley’s offense was again highlighted by fast-break opportunities and crashing the offensive glass for second-chance opportunities. Defensively, the Jaguars forced turnovers and limited Madrid’s scoring chances, holding the Tigers to 26 points.

Coach Steinhoff noted the team’s defensive growth, saying, “We got better at closing out and moving our feet in the second half, and that made a big difference in limiting Madrid’s looks at the basket.”

With this win, Southeast Valley 7th Grade improves its record to 2-0 and continues to set a strong tone for the season. The Jaguars will look to carry their momentum into the next matchup following the holiday break when we host Newell Fonda on Monday, December 1st and go on the road against Ogden the following day.
