Southeast Valley 7th Grade Storms Past Pocahontas, 59–15
After a three-week layoff, the Southeast Valley 7th grade boys basketball team wasted no time reestablishing their rhythm, rolling to a dominant 59–15 win over Pocahontas on Tuesday evening. The Jaguars jumped out to a 20–0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, showcasing one of their most complete performances of the season.
The long break between games, last playing on December 16 and returning January 6, was a concern, but the team responded with poise and precision.
“We were a little worried about how we’d come out after such a long layoff,” Coach Steinhoff shared. “But this was one of our best games in terms of controlling possessions and limiting turnovers. The boys were locked in from the start.”
Defensively, Southeast Valley smothered Pocahontas, forcing turnovers and contesting every shot. Offensively, the Jaguars moved the ball well and attacked the rim with confidence, spreading the scoring across the roster.
Tripp Roper led all scorers with 14 points, while Cam Johnson (6), Dawson Greene (8), Rocco Jondle (10), Nicco Jondle (11), Jaxson Halsrud (7), and Braxton Pierce (2) all contributed. Cooper Lane, VinJuan Atcitty, Gabe Steck, Jaxyn Milham, and Cam Nelson anchored the defensive effort and helped maintain intensity throughout the game.
With the win, Southeast Valley continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, showing growth in both execution and team chemistry.
