Jag Baseball Finishes Regular Season at Manson
7/1 @ Manson NW Webster- Conference 9-2 W (12-10) (6-4)
The conference matchup between the Cougars of Manson and the Southeast Valley Jaguars was delayed due to rain earlier in the year but the conference date was moved to the end of the season to be played in Manson. The Jags were looking to end their conference in the top four with a win and that is exactly what the Jags would do. The Jags would slowly add runs with three and four runs in the 4th and 5th innings to give them the comfortable lead. Casey Hanson had a monster game going 4-5 with two singles, two doubles, scoring three times and scoring one runner. Casey would hit .800 in the game with six total bases, stealing two and keeping his conference stolen bases at a perfect steal rate. While Casey would have a huge game, Mason Bahr would be right behind with a single and a double and scoring two RBI. Logan Jaeschke wouldn’t record a hit but would do a job walking twice, gaining an RBI on one of his walks. Seniors Ryan Stewart and Nick Field would also get plate appearances in the game. Not to be outdone, Kolton Ollinger and Landon Vote would add two singles each. Ollinger would slightly edge Vote in the stat sheet though gaining an RBI on one of his singles but Vote would tally a hit by pitch reaching base one more time than Ollinger. Conner Rentz and Spencer Peterson would each add a single. Spencer pinch hit late in the game and did a good job of adding in the pinch hit situation. The Jaguars were also a perfect five for five on stolen bases in the contest. The Jaguar defense would do a good job for Evan Bintz on the mound. The defense would surrender two errors but they weren’t too costly as Evan was booking it on the mound. Evan would go the complete game staying within the 110 pitch count limit ending the game with 106 pitches. All in all Evan would surrender six hits and give up two runs which were earned. He would however strike out ten batters while giving up only two walks. A nice performance from the hard throwing junior who has made tremendous strides this season.
JV ACTION: 12-1 W (14-0-2) UNDEFEATED SEASON!
The JV squad stayed perfect on the year with a convincing 12-1 win in the opening of the JV/V doubleheader and their last game of the season. Ayden Bintz and Caden Cramer would split pitching duties allowing the first batter of the game to score after a walk and an error. The Jags only got three innings of defense with the offense scoring at will but both pitchers did a good job in their shortened game. Jackson Bintz would score two runners with a walk and a sac fly to score the second runner. Carter Lloyd would score twice, once off an error and one hit by pitch. Riley Fawcett would also score twice. Getting hit once and getting a hit the next at bat with a base hit which scored a runner. August Akins, Kolton Ollinger would also add hits while Sophomore Caden Cramer and Colby Peterson would both double. Colby’s double would score a runner and Cramer would score a runner but with a sac fly to center field in his first at bat. A few hard hit balls caused errors off the bats of Ethan Martin and Josiah Hefley to round out the offense. Josiah Hefley would score twice with Ayden Bintz scoring once after a walk in the first at bat of the game. In the end the JV squad ended with fourteen wins and two ties. The two ties could have easily been wins but in the end the JV squad finishes the season undefeated. A feat that is hard to do but the future is bright with the Jaguar Baseball program.
