JVR Baseball vs Humboldt
6/19 JVR/JV Humboldt 3-5 L
The JVR team plus a few select sophomores got a home game this week with two five inning games. Humboldt traveled into Dayton and with riches of talent the last few years Humboldt has been a solid team the last few years.
The first game of the hot afternoon saw the wildcats take the win after scoring three runs in the first off pitcher Carver Peterson. Carver would settle in after that, limiting them one run after that. Colton Haug would also come in to throw a solid inning of pitching in the fifth inning. It was a solid game with good defense by both teams and some solid hits overall. Caden Milham led the way leading off going 3-3. Caden Cramer had a big hit, a double which he would eventually score when Carver Peterson would single followed quickly by Conner Rentz, who would hit a double scoring Landon Vote after a hard fought walk. Dawson Tuel would score the third run of the game after Caden Milham singled in the third. A solid game which the Jags just came up a bit short in the end.
2nd Game: 7-6 W (2-2-1)
The second game of the double header started off on a positive note. Scoring five runs in the first inning set the tone for the game. Kolton Ollinger led things off by getting on base. Colton Haug doubled to score Ollinger. Spencer Peterson kept thing rolling with a single. Dawson Tuel had a huge single which scored Haug and Peterson. A botched infield fly would allow Jake Paterson to score making it five total. Dawson Tuel would pitch for the Jags and after some first inning control issues, he would settle in allowing only one run in the next two innings. A pleasant sign to see from the young hard throwing freshmen. Caden Milham would finish it off in the fourth inning allowing a run off a balk but would pick off a runner also which ended the inning and game with the Jags securing the win.
