Rough Start to the Season for Varsity Baseball

5/26 @ Roland Story 0-15 L (0-1)

Rough first game for the Jaguars as they faced ranked Roland Story in their first contest in the double header. The Jags started off giving up eight runs in the first inning struggling to find the strike zone early on. They would surrender seven in the second inning which made it difficult to recover from the hole. First game jitters out of the way the Jags had to regroup coming back for the second game in the double header. Lone hits on the shortened contest came from leadoff hitter Casey Hanson and Mason Bahr who had a double. Pitchers on the night were seniors Ryan Stewart and Nick Field. Conner Rentz would finish the game on the mound for the Jags.

Game 2 @ Roland Story 2-12 L (0-2)

Game two of the double header went a bit better than the first game but too many walks in the end hurt the Jags and against a good team like Roland Story it was too much to overcome. The Jags would get a run in the first inning scored by Casey Hanson. Logan Jaeschke would score the other run for the Jags in the contest. Jaeschke would also get a hit with fellow Junior, Kolton Ollinger who would record the other hit for the Jaguars. Much like the previous game, walks and hit batters really hurt the Jags chances for the upset. A slew of Jaguars got on the mound most staying under pitch counts. Karson Roper, Evan Bintz, Kolton Ollinger and Dawson Tuel all got their first few innings of the young season. A tough slate playing one of the best 2A teams in the state especially in their first game of the season but the Jags showed some sparks which can come in handy later in the season.
