Reigning TLC Champs Take Down Jags

6/10 Emmetsburg 3-7 L (3-6) (2-1)

Reigning conference champ Emmetsburg came into Dayton to take on the Jags for their second conference game of the week. The Jags gave the E-hawks a run for their money and showed they belonged at the top of the conference standings. It was a miscue in the 4th inning which allowed the E-hawks to capitalize on the error when a double down the line would score three runners. Giving them a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The Jags didn't quit though, answering with three runs in the 4th to give them a spark. Jags put up a fight with a team that has good odds to win the conference. The Jags did a decent job of hitting the ball against one if not the top pitcher in conference with Kolton Ollinger, Karson Roper and Mason Bahr all going 2 for 3. Roper and Bahr would record an RBI on their at bats. Logan Jaeschke would round out the hitting with a single. Decent performance just missing the “big” hit that Emmetsburg got which pushed them up on the scoreboard for the win. Roper took the mound for the Jags and threw a really good complete game giving up four earned runs while striking out four batters. The junior threw really well and we'd all like to see what the game would be like with a 4-3 ballgame going into the last inning.

JV Action: 5-6 Indefinite Weather Delay (4-0-1)

The JV squad went into an indefinite weather delay in the third inning after the Jags would load the bases after scoring four runs. With top of the lineup and Ayden Bintz at bat with one out and a full count it looked as if the Jags were going to score the tying run. However a faint rumble in the distance persuaded the umpire to call a delay because of thunder, leaving Jaguar fans wondering what if? Jaguar fans without a doubt knew the Jags would have capitalized on the situation, but the correct call was made prioritizing safety first. Hits came from Ayden Bintz, Nick Field added a double, Ryan Stewart would sac fly driving in Ayden. Spencer Peterson would single, along with Caden Cramer right after in the big third inning. Ethan Martin would hit a big single, scoring two runners. Ayden Bintz would be on the bump. Allowing a few walks which ended up scoring otherwise throwing decently allowing his defense to help in the effort. Tucker Ollinger had some good plays at shortstop in the defensive effort.
