JVR Baseball vs Emmetsburg

The Jaguars JVR Baseball team remained undefeated at home with a 5-3 win over Emmetsburg on Tuesday, June 10. The game was the opening act of a JVR, JV, Varsity tripleheader with the E-Hawks.

Tucker Ollinger did a great job on the hill for the Jaguars, going the distance in the 5 inning tilt. He allowed only 2 earned runs and walked no E-Hawks, striking out 2. He scattered 7 hits and hit one batter. His defense did the job to close out the game in the 5th, with Ethan Martin and Colton Bachel cleanly fielding 3 groundball outs that they threw to first baseman August Akins to secure the win.

On the offensive side, 5 different Jaguars scored runs. The big inning was the 4th, where 1, 2, 3 batters Jackson Bintz, Bachel, and Carter Lloyd, all walked and came around to score on wild pitches, and an RBI ground out by Akins. Ethan Martin had the big hit of the game, a double to lead off the 2nd inning, and he later came around to score on a single by Caden Cramer.

“Walking no batters is a tremendous achievement for a freshman,” said Coach Fritz. “Tucker threw outs. He threw it in the zone, sometimes they hit it, but our defense is solid enough to get outs. It was a great lesson for a young pitcher that he doesn’t need to strike out 10 guys to win.”

The JVR team raised their record to 3-2 on the year. The scheduled game at Nevada on Thursday was rained out.
