Tough Luck Loss for Jags Baseball
6/17 East Sac 7-8 L (6-8) (3-3)
A tough one as the Jags luck wasn't on their side in a conference matchup with Raiders from East Sac County. Everything went the Raiders way with multiple bloop hits and some big defensive plays that going the other way would have been huge for the Jags. Unfortunately a big 4th inning propelled Raiders ahead of the Jags and the comeback would fall short in a weird night on the diamond. An indication of the luck for the Jags on the day came in the second inning with a runner on second the wind picked up and a large smash from Ryan Stewart which would have had a chance to leave the ballpark turned into a fly out.
The bats did enough but credit the Raiders who had big hits when they needed them. Evan Bintz took the mound and threw six innings with nine strikeouts. Landon Vote came in and did what Landon does, striking out one batter and giving the Jags a chance for more late game heroics.
The Jags scored two runners in the seventh and with the tying runner at second and two outs they just couldn't get the big hit to tie the game. Conner Rentz had a massive game going 3 for 3 with a double. Karson Roper would be right behind going 2 for 3 also with a double. Juniors Casey Hanson, Mason Bahr and Logan Jaeschke would all add hits with Hanson and Jaeschke hitting doubles. The Jags did it offensively but had multiple hits that were hard hit but right at guys while East Sac seemed to find every hole. That's the game of baseball. Sometimes things just don't go your way. The Jags will look to rebound going 2-2 on the week.
JV ACTION: 11-1 W (9-0-1)
Jv team picked up another win to start undefeated. Caden Cramer took the mound pitching three good innings of work. With the first run crossing in the first after a walk. Cramer would settle in after though. Colton Bachel would come in relief, throwing the last two innings. Striking out four batters in his two innings.
The Jags had some help from the Raiders defense getting five errors but hitting the ball hard. Caden Cramer would help his pitching cause by ending the first inning with a double to score two runners. August Akins get things going in the second inning with a single and Riley Fawcett would have the big hit of the inning getting a triple, scoring two runners. Much like the first inning runners on base the Jags got a big hit to bring the three run rule into play. The third inning would be three straight walks followed by passed balls scoring all three runners. Caden Cramer once again had another hit coming around to score as some errors allowed Ethan Martin to score ending the 11-1 win
